We respectfully announce the passing of Mr. Joseph Lewis Murphy, age 62, of Fayetteville, Georgia on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at his home.
Funeral Services will be held Sunday, March 10, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 2950 Primrose Road, Greenville, Georgia. Dr. E. L. Jimerson, Pastor will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.
Public viewing will be Saturday from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love is appearing. 2 Timothy 4: 7-8.”
Joseph Lewis Murphy began his journey of life on August 2, 1956 in Fayetteville, Georgia to the late Lewis and Clara Murphy. Joseph attended the Fayette County School System. Early in life, he joined Edgefield Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor C. C. Reeves. For many years, he worshipped faithfully at the Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church serving in many capacities prior to becoming a member. In 2017, he followed his heart and united his membership with his wife and family and became a member of Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church. His services continued as a dedicated usher where he could be found at the door every second and fourth Sunday. In July 2018, he was ordained as a Deacon where he served faithfully until his death. He was also affiliated with the Men’s Ministry and the Zion Hill Masonic Lodge. Joseph was employed at Franklin Products in Peachtree City in his early employment. For the past 29 years, he was employed at Kason Industries in Newnan, Georgia. He lived his life to the fullest; he could always be found at any family gathering or celebration.
Joseph was united in holy matrimony to his sweetheart, Alice Addie, in 1985.
Joseph answered the master’s call and departed this life on Wednesday, March 6, 2019. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Chantasia Owens. Joseph leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted wife, Alice A. Murphy; one son, Eric (Kim) Addie; two daughters, Tiyanda Addie and Chantoya Murphy; one loving sister, Jeanette (Paul) Ingram; loving mother-in-law, Mabel Addie; Six grandchildren, Kaleigh Addie, Takierra Cousin, Montavious Owens, Arianna Owens, Takiyra Cousin and Demetrius Rosser; three sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
