Obituary for Debbie Marie Chaffin

Debra “Debbie” Marie Inda Chaffin, 62, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and Tia; passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 6, 2019 with her family by her side. Debbie was born to Isidoro and Mary Inda on July 24, 1956 in Roseburg, Oregon. The Inda Family relocated to Winnemucca, Nevada from Upper Clover Ranch in 1965, with Winnemucca becoming “home” to Debbie. She attended Humboldt County schools where she established life long friendships while making everlasting memories. She graduated with Albert Lowry High School’s Class of 1974. In 1977, Debbie met and fell in love with Fred Chaffin. It didn’t take long for the couple to realize they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together and were married on August 27, 1978. Fred and Debbie settled down in Winnemucca, where they began and raised their family. They were blessed with four beautiful daughters; Christie, Ashley, Mandy and Nikki. Then in 2004, their blessings continued with the birth of their granddaughter, Lexi Chaffin. Debbie spent many of her years as a homemaker. As you can imagine, keeping up with four girls was not an easy task and she was kept very busy. Debbie spent much of her time volunteering in classrooms and being the girls’ number one cheerleader in their various activities; especially softball. However, when Debbie did decide to join the work force, she decided on the food service industry. She had a passion for working with the public. This career path gave her a chance to socialize with people from near and far. Debbie was extremely proud of her Basque heritage and given the opportunity, loved to teach visitors about the Basque culture. With her outgoing personality and dynamic smile, she became a favorite server to many. Those who knew Debbie, knew of her love and devotion to her family. She felt her greatest accomplishments were her marriage, daughters and granddaughter. Debbie will be remembered for her wonderful spirit, being the life of the party, and her contagious laugh. She will be dearly missed by many and will be forever remembered. Debbie is preceded in death by her parents, Isidoro and Mary Inda; brother, James Inda; brother-in-law, Frank Ochoa; and niece, Sylvia Ochoa. She is survived by her loving husband of forty years, Fred Chaffin; daughters, Christie (Jason) Sauer, Ashley Chaffin, Mandy Chaffin (Matt Hilbish), Nikki Chaffin (Josh Jones); granddaughter, Lexi Chaffin; sister, Francey Ochoa; nieces, Nancy (Michael) Jurad, Alicia (Bubba) Prokasky; great nephew, Brycen Prokasky; great nieces, Sylvie Prokasky and Talia Jurad; and numerous cousins. Debbie’s wishes for a private and intimate burial will be fulfilled by her family. A Celebration of Debbie’s Life will be held on Sunday, January 13, 2019 at The Martin Hotel. Please join us at anytime between 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. to reminisce and share stories about this amazing lady. “You have given so much and asked for so little in return. Thank you for always being there for us, teaching us, listening to us, helping and forgiving us, loving us, and always, always paving the way for us. We will work hard to reach the standards you set. Farewell, sweet mama. You were simply magnificent.”
