Obituary For Mrs. Katherine E. Little

Mrs. Katherine E. Little, 102, a resident of Lanett, AL, died Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at Diversicare of Lanett, Lanett, AL.

Funeral Services are scheduled for Monday, July 2, 2018 at 12:00 Noon from Goodsell United Methodist Church, Lanett, AL with Dr. Randy Kelley, Pastor, officiating.

Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Valley, AL. Davis Memorial Mortuary of Valley directing.

Public Viewing is scheduled for Sunday, July 1, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Davis Memorial Mortuary Chapel.

Katherine Edwards Little, 102, returned to her heavenly home on June 26, 2018 after a long walk on this earth. Her firm belief in God carried her through life and ultimately gave her peace.

Katherine was born to the late Sam and Martha Edwards on August 30, 1915. After the death of her mother, she was raised by her Aunt, along with her brothers Wash Jones and Wallace Angus in Chelsea, AL. She was immersed in the Christian community from an early age at Jones A.M.E. Methodist Church. She continued her Christian walk at Saint Paul AME Church in Riverview, AL, and later joined she joined Goodsell UMC in Lanett, AL, where she stayed faithful even unto her death She enjoyed reading her bible and listening to and singing hymns. She worked for several families well into her 80’s and was not happy when she stopped working because she had outlived most of the people she worked for. She was also an active seamstress and baker for her family and the local community.

Katherine was blessed with a large and loving family. She married the late Eugene Little, on August 23, 1930 in Birmingham, AL. Together they raised 8 children with patience, discipline and humility. She was a strong and loving woman who often watched after other children in the Riverview community. From the very beginning, she dedicated her children to God and encouraged them to attend the local church, Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church. She is dearly missed by her loved ones, who celebrate the fact that she is at peace with her creator.

Katherine was preceded in death by her brothers; her sons, Willie “Sonny”, Wallace, Eddie, and Sam; her daughter, Toni L. Moody; and her grandchildren, Tim and Darryl Varner, and Miata Moody.

She is survived by her children, Geneva Ross of Cincinnati, OH, Robert Little of Valley, AL, and Nellie Faye Varner of Toledo, OH; her grandchildren, Cindy Thomas of Cincinnati, OH, Stanley Little of Cleveland, OH, Brenda Chapel of Atlanta, Norma (Bobby) Williams of West Point, GA, Robert (Corrina) Little Jr. of Palm Beach, FL, Wallace Shawn Little of Tallassee, AL, Reginald Little of Montgomery, AL, Christopher (Ariane) Little of Valley, AL, Chris and Greg Varner of Toledo, OH, Tabatha (Carl) Lawrence of Fairburn, GA, Adrienne Allen and Kim Thomas of Valley, Enrique Torez Moody of West Point, GA, Clarence “Reco” and Tiva “Chiatta” Moody of Lanett, AL and Pascha (Alqualios) Hammonds of Ocoee, FL; 38 great grandkids; and 12 great-great grandkids: her sister-in-law, Vinnie Lou Jones of West Point, GA; a host of treasured friends and cherished loved ones.
