Mrs. Fannie Mae Davis Carter was born to the parentage of the late Homer Davis and Mattie Hightower Davis on November 24, 1937, in Lee County, Alabama. On November 3, 2022, God whispered her name. She quietly answered the call and went home to be with the Lord.

Mrs. Carter accepted Christ at an early age and began her Christian journey with Mountain Springs Missionary Baptist Church in Salem, Alabama. She faithfully served as a matron, deaconess and church secretary. She was a member of the usher board, missionary society, and senior choir. Perhaps her most cherished and loved activity was attending Sunday School. She was dedicated to all, until her health no longer allowed. And though she was a dedicated member of Mountain Springs, she was a prominent fixture who also faithfully supported her family at Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church.

Mrs. Carter attended Wacoochee School and later graduated from Lanier High School in 1956.

She was joined in Holy Matrimony with James Cornelious Carter, Sr. This union lasted until God called him home in 1975.

Mrs. Carter retired from West Point Stevens after over 30 years of service. In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends. She was especially known for her cornbread and the homemade cakes she baked.

Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Deidre Carter, all of her siblings: ten brothers: Eddie Frank, Ferris Lee, Robert, Clarence, Nathaniel, Percy, John, Fred, Charlie Homer, and Chester; two sisters: Jimmie Zell and Morris Lee; her son, Michael E. Carter, step- daughter, Gwendolyn Carter Brooks; her step-son, James Cornelious Carter, Jr.; her grandsons, Roy Hervey, Jr. and Erskine Robinson.

A lifetime of memories will be cherished by: three sons, Anthony E. Carter (Joyce Farmer), Valley, AL, Kenneth (Stephanie) Carter, Raeford, NC, and Teddy Carter, Valley, AL; two step-daughters: Shirley Hervey, Valley, AL and Shelby Jean Copeland, Atlanta, GA; a daughter-in-law: Yolanda James Carter, Valley, AL; 15 grandchildren: Thomas (Tiwatha) Busbee, III., Augusta, GA, Monique (Marcus) Fuller, Opelika, AL, Kiyoshi Carter, Greensboro, NC, Tiffany Yelder, Opelika, AL, Joshua (Konika) Carter, Valley, AL, Tabatha (Patrick) Mitchell, Auburn, AL, Branden Carter, Atlanta, GA, Kiana (Tyson) Grudisher, Valley, AL, Kendrick Carter, Raeford, NC, Dr. Sonya Olbrantz, Valley, AL, Sharone (late David) Hervey-Core, Jacksonville, FL, Ajene Carter, Detroit, MI, Duwayne Carter, Columbus, GA, Starsha Brooks, Newnan, GA, and Byron Carter, Ft.
