Harris, Mr. Thomas Dexter "Tony", a resident of Lanett, AL, died Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at EAMC-Lanier Memorial Hospital, Valley, AL. Funeral Services are scheduled for Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. (EST) from Friendship Baptist Church, Valley with Pastor L. C. Thomas, Eulogist and Rev. James S. Hill, presiding.
Interment will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery, Lanett, AL. Davis Memorial Mortuary of Valley directing.
Public Viewing is scheduled for Friday, November 30, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Davis Memorial Mortuary Chapel.
Thomas Dexter Harris, affectionately called “Tony”, was born March 23, 1969 in Louisville, Kentucky to Dorothy Mae Core Harris and the late Joseph Benjamin Harris. His early childhood education was received in the Louisville School System. After relocating to Georgia, he graduated from Central High School in Macon, Georgia.
Thomas gave the Pastor his hand and God his heart, and joined Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Valley, Alabama. He served as a dedicated Trustee and as a faithful choir member. He was a hard worker, having been employed with several Kia Manufacturing companies, the latest being Daewhon in Cusseta, Alabama.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Thomas Harris, Sr. and his grandmother, Leona Core. On Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at EAMC-Lanier Memorial Hospital in Valley, God reached down from heaven and said “My child, come home to be with your father in Heaven”.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his devoted and loving wife, Monica Murphy Harris, Valley, AL; one son, Elijah Harris, Lanett, AL; his compassionate mother, Dorothy Harris, Lanett, AL; one brother, Phillip Harris, Lanett, AL; mother-in-law, Sandra Murphy, Valley, AL; aunts, Lelia P. Walker, Lanett, AL, Bernice Madden, Salem, AL, Annie B. Burton, Sarah (Johnny) Patterson, and Harriet (Larry) Patton all of Valley, AL and Clara Burton, Cusseta, AL; uncles, Earnest Murphy (Clara), James Murphy and Michael Murphy all of Valley, AL; brothers-in-law, Tiunda Murphy, Simpsonville, SC and Demetrius Murphy, Valley, AL; sisters-in-law, Camillia Tramel (Edgar) Mounguengui, Heightsville, MD and Metia (Arthur, Jr.) Floyd, Mauldin, SC; four nephews; five nieces; and, a host of cousins, other loving relatives and friends.
