Heath Jr., Mr. Robert, a resident of Lanett, AL, died Sunday, April 7, 2019 at his residence.
Robert Heath, Jr. was born April 20, 1950 to the parentage of Robert, Sr. and Julia McFarlin Heath. He was the youngest of four children. At an early age he joined Canaan Missionary Baptist Church of Roanoke (Welch Community), Alabama.
Affectionately known as “Sugar Pie”, he was a gentle, loving and concerned person. Not a man of many words, his actions always depicted his love and respect for his family and others. As a young man growing up in Five Points, Alabama, he had a passion for the sport of softball and was a stellar athlete known as “The Slugger”. A collection of his many awards, trophies and newspaper clippings can attest to his exceptional softball skills.
In 1984 he married his loving and devoted wife of 34 years, Davetta Cooper of Union Springs, Alabama. Robert loved working around the home and especially enjoyed working in his yard. He was a meticulous person known for his sharp dressing. For many years he was employed by West Point Stevens where he attained the position of Weave Room Supervisor at Carter Mill in Valley, Alabama.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Betais Higgins. Robert Heath, Jr. departed this life peacefully on Sunday, April 7, 2019 at his residence.
This man of a quiet and soft-spoken demeanor leaves a permanent remembrance of his love and devotion to: his wife, Davetta C. Heath, Lanett, AL; his loving daughter, Jillian R. Heath, Lanett, AL; two sons, Ronnie Heath, Atlanta, GA and Derrel Greenwood, Lanett, AL; grandson, David Robert Heath, Lanett, AL ; granddaughter, Ka’Zariah Greenwood, LaGrange, GA; one sister, Jewel (William) Oliver, Roanoke, AL; one brother, Edward (Dorothy) Heath, Sr., Hoover, AL; two sisters-in-law, Phyllis (Robert) Matthews, Montgomery, AL and Darolyn Cooper, Smyrna, GA; cousins who were raised as siblings, Beatrice (Jimmy) Allen, Five Points, AL, Martha Griffin and Luella Williams both of Lanett, AL; and, a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, The Askew Family, Ralph and Donna Jordan, The Williams Family, The Reese Family, Patricia Reed and “The Girls” – Kathy Williams, Brenda Benton, Deborah Davis, Lisa Scott and Barbara Dorsey.
