Carter Funeral Home announces the peaceful transition of Mrs. Shirley Lee Pierce Swift (69) of Union Springs, AL.
While resting under the watchful care of her healthcare team, Mrs. Swift transitioned into eternity late Saturday afternoon, September 10, 2022, at the Southern Springs Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center
The Commemoration of Life will begin with a public visitation, Friday September 16, 2022, from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Carter Funeral Home.
The Farewell Celebration at Graveside will be held Saturday, September 17, 2022, at 2:00 pm from the Perote Cemetery.
Pastor Bruce Burks of the Mt. Azure Missionary Baptist Church will deliver the message of comfort.
In accordance with recommended COVID-19 Protocols, all attendees are requested to utilize appropriate facial coverings, maintain social distancing, and minimize physical contact.
Shirley confessed Christ at an early age and became a devoted member of Mt. Azure Baptist Church in Three Notch Community of Union Springs, Alabama.
Shirley was a proud graduate of Union Springs High School, Class of 1971. After graduating high school, she attended Tuskegee Trade School and graduated in 1972. In 1973, Shirley gained employment with Bullock County Hospital as a medical professional. Throughout her career, she was also employed at The Coffee Pott, Greenway Inn, Hilltop Grill, Delda’s, etc.
Shirley enjoyed fishing, shopping for home, and spending time with family and friends.
On June 16, 1972, Shirley married David Lee Swift in Union Springs, Alabama. David and Shirley have ben married for fifty years.
On September 10, 2022, God called home our beloved “Shelly” (a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend). She was preceded by her son, David Lee Swift, Jr.; mother, Lula Robinson Ousley; father, Leroy Pierce; and one God-child, Heather Bourne.
Cherished and loving memories will forever live on in the hearts of her husband, David Lee Swift; two daughters, Latasha (Michael) Parham and Latonya (Dwayne) Fluellen; ten grandchildren, De’Monte (Shatwana), Tyrell (Jennifer), De’Quarius (Nicole), De’Unna, De’Kera, Jakaya, Ke’Vonte, Dwayne, Jr., Drayne, and Jariah; twenty-three great-grandchildren:Tyrell, Jr., De’Asia, G’Marrion, Aria, Isla, Lauren, Zy’Keria, Za’Karion, Antwone, Antrell, Kashmere, De’Quasia, De’Nasia, Kevon, De’Monte, Jr., Myrikel, Ty’Quarius, Da’Mani, Tristan, Larea, Nehemiah, Anthony and Kamariya; one sister, Delores Rodgers; two nephews: Ty’erickson Rodgers and Johnathan Ellis; one great-nephew, Ty’erickson, Jr.; two great-nieces: Ty’Ericka Rodgers and Tyericka Rodgers; two God-children, Mattie Caldwell and Clifford Scott, Jr.; two close friends: Sue Beachem and Maryann McClendon; along with a host of other family members and friends.
