Carter Funeral Home humbly and honorably announces the peaceful transition of Mr. Roy James Fowler, (62) of Midway, AL. Mr. Fowler transitioned into eternity on September 20, 2022, in Eufaula, AL.
The Commemoration of Life will begin with a public visitation, Friday, September 30, 2022, from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Carter Funeral Home.
The Farewell Life Celebration will be held Saturday, October 1, 2022, at 11:00 am in the sanctuary of the Mt. Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church. Pastor Jeffery Fortson will deliver the message of comfort.
Mr. Fowler will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to services. Interment will follow all services in the Mt. Pleasant Hill Church Cemetery.
In accordance with recommended COVID-19 Protocols, all attendees are requested to utilize appropriate facial coverings, maintain social distancing, and minimize physical contact.
Roy James Fowler was born April 2, 1960 in Midway, AL to the late Mr. Johnny Fowler, Sr. and Mrs. Arlena S. Fowler. He was the youngest of six children.
Roy James accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Mt. Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Midway, AL. He was educated in Bullock County School System, where he played varsity football at Bullock County High School. Later, Roy James graduated from Bullock County High School.
After graduation, Roy James moved to Fort Pierce, FL and gained employed at Citrus Industries. Afterwards, he returned home to Midway, AL, where he met and married Ezella Tolbert.
Roy James was also preceded in death by his brothers, Russell Fowler, Melvin H. Fowler, and Jesse L. Arnold; and one precious niece, Lytonia C. Fowler.
He leaves to cherish his memories: two sons, Marquis DuRoy Ingram-Fowler (Vivian) and Cedric Demetrious Antwan Ingram-Fowler (Rhonda), all of Houston, TX; one daughter, Cynthia Tolbert Johnson, Columbus, GA; ex-wife, Ezella Tolbert Fowler; three grandsons, PFC Jordan T. Vaughn (Kazia), Cedric P.A. Ingram, Jr., and Elijah I. Ingram; two granddaughters, Kiarra K.N. Williams and Marquiesha D. Ingram; two great-grandchildren; seven sisters, Sally Larkins, Marilyn Gachett, both of Midway, AL; Lacy (Eugene) Holmes, Union Springs, AL, Beverly F. (James) Goree, Bessemer, AL, Natassia (Hermon) Taylor, Fort Mitchell, AL, Evelyn (Reuben) White, Mason, OH, and Marshal Chisolm, Chicago, IL; four brothers, Johnny (Consuella) Fowler, Ronnie (Christina) Parker, Midway, AL, Sammie L. (Shirley) Fowler, Fort Pierce, FL, and Keith (Sharon) Rodgers, Phenix City, AL; two aunts, Johnnie B. Anglin, Haines City, FL and Ora B. Stewart, Midway, AL; two uncles, Joseph L. Scott, Fort Pierce, FL and James A. Fowler, Montgomery, AL; a lifelong friend, Marilyn J. Ingram; two special great-nephews, Donavan W. Henderson and David S. Henderson, Jr., both of McCalla, AL; along with a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members, and friends.
