Olgie Ruth Anderson - Lee, 65, a resident of Bloomfield, Conn., was born May 4, 1952 in Union Springs, Alabama. Olgie was the eighth of thirteen children born to the late Dea. Joe Anderson Sr. and Ardenier Starks Anderson and the mother of her precious son, Oliver Terrell Lee II.

As a child, Olgie was always very petite in statue but she always felt that she had to make her presence known by being defiant, very opinionated, and fearless. Being the middle girl between three brothers only made Olgie rough, tough, aggressive and determined to stand her ground. Olgie was known for being adventurous, strong willed, and very outspoken. Olgie would not fail to let everybody know just how Olgie felt about a situation, whether she was right or wrong. She often stated, " If it comes up, it must come out." Growing up in a family of twelve siblings, Olgie watched her parents' nurturing skills demonstrating that real love meant much sacrifice, discipline, loyalty, devotion, respect, support, prayer and faith in God. All of these factors helped to shape Olgie into the woman, mother and spiritual leader that she came to be. Her desire to help others to make a difference in their lives is what led Olgie to pursue her spiritual calling.

Olgie confessed Christ at an early age and joined the Elizabeth Baptist Church in Union Springs, Al. Later, Olgie united with Martin Luther King Presbyterian Church in Springfield, Mass. where served in many capacities such as Deacon and Elder. She was also elected as Secretary of the National Black Presbyterian Caucus.

Olgie's dedication to serving God and the needs of her fellowmen, along with her thirst for knowledge and growth both spiritually and economically, were the driving forces that led her to utilize her gift of sewing to support herself and to create an Outreach Ministry to mentor and empower underprivileged women with low self-esteem to become champions within themselves spiritually as well as socially by expressing their emotions through sewing and designing clothes, quilts etc.

Believing that knowledge is power, Olgie was constantly striving to learn more so that she could do more. Olgie graduated from Union Springs High School in 1971; graduated from Calhoun Community College in Athens, Al. in 1999; graduated from Springfield College in Springfield, Mass. where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Services in 2007 and her Master of Science degree in Organizational Management and Leadership in 2009; attended Princeton Theological Seminary in Princeton, NJ from Sept. 2011- May 2012; graduated from John C. Smith /Richardson Fellowship at Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta, Ga. in 2015, where she received her Master of Divinity Degree; and received her Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) at Yale New Haven Hospital in New Haven Conn. where she was resident Chaplin.

Olgie transitioned into eternal rest on Friday, May 5, 2017 at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, CT.

Olgie was preceded in death by her parents Joe and Ardenier Anderson, and siblings Willie "Bill" Anderson Sr., James "Tom" Anderson, and infant Geneva.

Olgie's memories will be cherished forever by her precious and only son Oliver "Terry" Lee II; Step-daughter: Kimberly (Stacey) Lester; five sisters: Odell Penn, Mable "Pat" Finney, Sarah Jean Simmons, Malinda Faye Anderson, and Beketha Yvonne Anderson; four brothers: Joe (Idell) Anderson Jr., Everett (Katie) Anderson, Clifford (Doris) Anderson and Wilbert Anderson; Sister-in-laws: Eloise Anderson Linda Anderson one Aunt: Commie T. Starks; one Uncle: Algie King; 21 nieces and nephews; a host of great nieces and nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

The family of the late Olgie Ruth Anderson-Lee would like to sincerely thank each of you for all of your kindness and support shown during the illness and passing our loved one. Your calls, prayers, kind words, gifts, etc., has shown how much you cared for the family and loved and cherished Olgie. NATIONAL BLACK PRESBYTERIAN CAUCUS PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH (U.S.A.) Northeast Region

May 15, 2017

The word “network” comes to mind as I think of Ruling Elder Olgie Anderson Lee. She generously

used her skills well beyond her local church and community to be a dedicated worker on the national

level of the National Black Presbyterian Caucus.

Ruling Elder Lee was a light and inspiration, especially for those in our Northeast region; always

performing assigned tasks and striving to go beyond expectation.

In this season of Mother’s Day, the loss of a mother and sister is even more significant. Her network

Is impacted, however the love Olgie extended certainly will conquer her physical death and preserve

the network she established.

We are assured Jesus will meet us at the conclusion of our journey. Gain comfort in the knowledge

that Olgie is out of her pain and experiencing unimaginable freedom and joy. Certainly she fought

the good fight, kept the faith and finished the course.

Ruling Elder Olgie Anderson Lee truly left a godly legacy.

Sorrowfully submitted,

The Executive Committee Northeast Region National Black Presbyterian Caucus

Elder Barbara Adams-Smelter, Moderator Reverend Maxine E. Jenkins, Vice-Moderator Elder Lenore Williams, Secretary Reverend Dr. Doris Glaspy, Treasurer Elder Alan Perry, Assistant Secretary Elder Warren McNeill, Nominating Committee Chair
