Obituary For Mildred Barefield

Humbly and with deep respect, Carter Funeral Home announces the transition of Ms. Mildred Barefield, 60, of Midway, Alabama.

Born June 28,1957, Ms. Barefield transitioned into eternity, September 8, 2017 at her residence in the Mt. Coney Community.

Celebration of Life Services will be held Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 11:00 am from the sanctuary of the New Mt. Silla Baptist Church of the Comer Community.

Words of comfort will be delivered by the pastor, Rev. James Person.

Interment will follow in the New Mt. Silla Church Cemetery.

Ms.Barefield will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to Celebration of Life Services.

Ms. Mildred Pearl Barefield was born June 28, 1957 in Tuskegee, Alabama to Freddie Lee, Sr. and Mildred Snipes.

She attended Admiral Moore School. At an early age Mildred gave her life to Christ. She lived most of her adult life in St. Petersburg, Florida where she became the God Mother to Deshawn and Kendra Clayton. She later returned home to Midway, Alabama. She rejoined Mt. Silla church as a faithful member who loved the Lord. Pearl, as we affectionally called her, loved everyone. Her infectious smile and laugh warmed our hearts. She would give you a great big smile and say “hey baby” as she greeted you. Pearl was that devoted, loving person who gave her all .

She leaves behind her loving siblings: Matteva Snipes of Maitland, FL, Leona Blakey (Dominic), of Silver Spring, MD, Freddie Lee Snipes, Jr. of Rochester, NY, Charles Jordan (Jacqueline) of Sodus, NY, Willie Jordan (Diane) of Tuskegee, AL. Three nieces: Cheryl Snipes of Orlando, Fl, Michele Wyckoff of Mt. Dora, FL and Ariel Blakey of Silver Spring, MD. Three nephews: Christopher Snipes (Alicia) of Orlando, FL., Darnell Jordan of Sodus NY and Andrew Blakey of Silver Spring, MD. Uncles: Elbert Comming (Zoe), Willie Lee Patterson Sr., Johhny Ford (Joyce); Sister in laws: Retha, Joann and Willie Ann King. Aunts: Mary King, Virginia Williamson, Katie Cummings. cousins who loved her as a sister: Sharon Simpson, Diane Comming, Special Friends: Mary Baker, and Mattie Parker. A host of great nephews, nieces, many loving relatives and sorrowing friends.
