Mr. Leeodeas Faulk was born July 12, 1925 to Ike and Lillia (Calhoun) Faulk in Macon County, Tuskegee, Alabama. He departed this life Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at the age of 92 years.
As a child he enjoyed climbing trees, riding horses, and swimming. His favorite sport was baseball and favorite teams were the New York Yankees and the Atlanta Braves. His favorite way of spending a day of leisure was hunting, fishing and GARDENING/FARMING, reading the newspaper and sleeping.
Mr. Faulk served honorably for twenty-one years in the United States Army and Air force during World War II, the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. While in the military he was stationed in numerous states and countries. Recently he received Commemorations of the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War Proclamation from former President Barack Obama and Michigan’s Governor Rick Snyder. Over the years, Leeodeas has received numerous community service awards. On May 29, 2017, Leeodeas was the Grand Marshall for Saginaw’s Memorial Day Parade.
Leeodeas was a faithful member of Bethel A. M. E. Church for 61 years. He was a Boy Scout Leader for 31 years. He touched and influenced the lives of many young men which some became Eagle Scouts. Also, he was a member of the Lions Club, Alabama Club, Elks Lodge and the American Legion #312 from which he recently received a certificate of 50 years of continuous membership.
His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of 44 years, Maggie Williams Faulk, their three children, Terry (Shedrick) Faulk, Lake Orion, MI, Sherwin (Marie) Faulk, Saginaw, MI and Felecia Young, Rochester, NY. He was affectionately known as Big Daddy to his grandchildren, Arieanna, Gabrielle, Jerrika, Fabien, Tralecia, Fazon, Marisol and Angelique. He has five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Rev. Arthero Reed, Birmingham, AL and Jessie Kate Steward, Columbus, GA. He also leaves three brothers-in-law from Starkville, MS, Roger Williams, Joe (Mozella) Williams and Jesse (Alma) Williams; three sisters-in-law, Rosie Williams Johnson, Murrieta, CA, Daisy Williams Gillespie, Marietta, GA and Marlene Williams Cline, Jackson, MS. He will be dearly missed by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Mr. Faulk was preceded in death by his parents, Ike and Lillia Faulk.
Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at Bethel A.M.E. Church, 535 Cathay St., Saginaw, MI 48601. Pastor Dennis Laffoon will officiate with interment in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.
