Carter Funeral Home announces the restful transition of Mr. Freddie Lee Smith, (77), of Union Springs, Alabama.
Mr. Smith transitioned into eternity Sunday, January 16, 2022, at the Baptist Medical Center South.
The Commemoration of Life will begin with a public visitation, Friday, January 21, 2022, from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Carter Funeral Home.
The Farewell Celebration at Graveside will be held Saturday, January 22, 2022, at 2:00 pm from the St. John AME Cemetery, Union Springs, AL. Pastor Eric L. Graves, Sr. will deliver the message of comfort

Mr. Freddie Lee Smith began his earthly journey, March 23, 1944. Freddie was the son of the late Eddie Smith and Annie Lou Swanson Smith. A child of God, Freddie Lee was blessed with a family he loved and supported dearly. He also loved everything outdoors, especially fishing. His earthly labor years were spent at the Welsh Company of the South and Gibson’s Home Center.
The Master’s call was answered on Sunday, January 16, 2002, at the Baptist Medical Center, Montgomery, AL.
In addition to his parents, Freddie Lee was also preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Haynes, Susie Mae Holmes, brothers, Willie Smith, James L. Smith, and Eddie Smith.
Cherished memories of a beautiful life will long remain with his soulmate of fifty two years, Lue Vail Harris Smith, their children, Royzell Harris, Nathan Smith, Stevie ( Janice) Smith, Fred (Mittie) Smith and Freddie (Annie) Davis, all of Union Springs, AL; his sister, Dessie (Lee Mack) Harris, and brother Lee Andrew (Delores) Smith, all of Union Springs, AL, along with five additional sisters in law and three brothers in law ; their grandchildren, Lakisha Smith, Latraina, Fredrick, Phillip, and Freddie Davis, Jr, Royzeland Harris, Javion Smith, Kendal Foster, Brianna Caldwell, April and Jasmine Murry, Lushundra. Tecondra, and Jamya Smith, Travon Williams and Steve Steward. Fifteen great grandchildren, along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
