Carter Funeral Home announces the transition of Mrs. Coyzette Fitzpatrick, 82, of Fitzpatrick, Alabama on November 8, 2018.
Celebration of Life Services will be held Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 12:00 noon from the sanctuary of the Greenwood Missionary Baptist Church, Rev. Arnather Baxter, pastor.
The Rev. Jacquelyn Bowie Hayter, pastor of the Pleasant Grove AME Church of Seale, Alabama. will render the message of comfort and strength.
Interment will follow in the New Bethel AME Cemetery of Fitzpatrick.
Visitation for family and friends will be Friday, November 16, 2018 from 3:00 pm until 5 :00 pm at New Bethel AME Church.
Mrs. Fitzpatrick will lie in repose at Greenwood Baptist Church one hour prior to Celebration of Life Services.
Coyzette Works Fitzpatrick was born August 26, 1936 to Willie Sr. and Extrie Ellison Works in Fitzpatrick, Alabama.
She is preceded in death by her loving parents.
Mrs. Fitzpatrick was one of nine children born to this union, all whom have proceeded her in death; 2 sisters, Minnie and Fermie, 6 brothers, Willie, James, Roscoe, Henry, Corinth and Amos. Mrs. Fitzpatrick attended Fitzpatrick School and Thompson School in Fitzpatrick, Alabama. She accepted Christ at an early age. She was a devoted member of New Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church where she served faithfully until her homegoing. She also faithfully worshiped and served in various capacities at the Greenwood Missionary Baptist Church. Ms. Works was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Willie James Fitzpatrick on January 10, 1955. He preceded her in death on July 31, 1986. During this union she was The Domestic Goddess of the Fitzpatrick Family and to many others that she came in contact. She continued in this role throughout her life. To this union 5 children were born: Henry (Doris) of Atlanta, Georgia, Gloria and Barbara of Fitzpatrick, Alabama, Patricia of Montgomery, Alabama and Linda of Chandler, Arizona.
They will forever cherish the memories created with their loving mother, confidante, and friend. Mrs. Fitzpatrick is the proud grandmother to 7 grandchildren: Kesa of Atlanta, Georgia, Cassandra (Cortez) of Union Springs, Alabama, Kentrell of Union Springs, Alabama, Tamekia of Montgomery, Alabama, Brittany (Terrance) of Montgomery, Alabama, Antoinette of Atlanta, Georgia, and Ciciely of Atlanta, Georgia. She proudly raised Kesa, Cassandra and Kentrell as her own. She also shared a special bond with her bonus grandson, Calvin Jackson III (Kaylin) of Montgomery, Alabama. She also was the loving GG (great-grandmother) to 4 great grandkids: Capri, Benjamin and Bryson of Atlanta, Georgia and Taylin of Montgomery, Alabama.
She leaves to cherish her memories numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, 5 sister-in-law’s and 4 brother in-law’s and a devoted caregiver, Shirley Cogburn. She was a member of The Eastern Star of Bethel Pride Chapter 198 in Fitzpatrick, Alabama where she served faithfully until her health limited her abilities to serve. She was an active member in her community and was proudly committed to civic duties. She was many things to many people and to those that knew her, knew of her commitment to Christ, her belief in working for the greater good and her motto, do unto others as you would have them do unto you. She was a Mother, Counselor, Friend, Confidante, Best Cook in the World, Prankster, Movie Watcher, Sweet Lover’s, your Ride or Die……
