Jerry Lamar Cantrell passed away on Friday, August 13, 2021 at his home while surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in Shawmut, AL on July 9, 1936 to Lucille and Leroy Cantrell and was a member of First Baptist Church of West Point, GA.
Lamar retired from the State of Alabama Department of Agriculture. He was also a Real Estate Broker as well as a Real Estate Auctioneer in Alabama and Real Estate Agent while living in Florida. He attended Valley High School and Southern Union Community College. In his spare time, Lamar was a magician and enjoyed entertaining friends and family with magic tricks.
Lamar is survived by his wife of 46 years and the love of his life, Patricia Campbell Cantrell, sons Steve Cantrell and Wally (Tammy) Simms, daughters Karen Harper and Laurie Brown, grandchildren Lisa Harper, Stacie Simms, Leah Simms, Steven Kirby, Jesse Kirby and one brother, Donald Cantrell, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Lamar was preceded in death by his parents, Lucille & Leroy Cantrell, his sister Antricia Cantrell and his son, Jeffrey Cantrell.
He loved the Lord and served several different churches in many different roles such as Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Director, and Youth Director.
The family would like to express sincere thanks and gratitude to Dr. Joseph Downs, Chattahoochee Hospice Care and all the nurses involved in the care of our beloved family member.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
