James Albert (Jim) Lindsey, 85, passed away on March 10, 2020 in LaGrange Georgia. Jim was born in Fayette Alabama on June 13, 1934 to the late Cecil and Susie Caraway Lindsey.
Jim graduated from Fayette County High school and then received his Bachelor’s degree from Auburn University in Textile Engineering in 1956. He then received a commission in the US Army Corp of Engineers where he served six months active duty at Fort Rucker Alabama.
Jim had a distinguished career in textiles starting in 1956 with Riegel Textiles in Trion Georgia. He was then transferred to the Riegel Textile offices in New York, New York. The family lived in Riverside Conn. during this time. Jim was then transferred to Riegel’s operation in Ware Shoals, SC. After this Jim was promoted to Assistant Manager and then to Manager in Riegel’s Alto Georgia. Jim was then named General Manager of the Trion Georgia operation.
In 1972 Jim went to work for West Point Pepperell as Asst Manager of Lanett Mill in Lanett, Alabama. He was then promoted to Manager of Lindale Mill in Lindale Georgia. In 1977 Jim moved back to West Point Georgia and served as Manager of Commission Finishing Sales until his retirement.
Jim was a faithful member of West Point 1st United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Wesley Men’s Sunday School Class. His favorite hobby was working in his garden and maintaining his yard.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; son James Wade Lindsey; brothers Jerry Lindsey and Stewart Lindsey; sisters Betty Williams, Peggy Canant, and Sue Loftis; and grandson Ryan Gilliam.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years Jerrie Sue Jeffries Lindsey; sons Jeff (Lori) Lindsey, and Ken (Michelle) Lindsey: daughter Allyson (Harold) Gilliam: sister Rebecca (Gene) Deal; grandchildren Casey(Kylie) Spivey, Daniel Lindsey, David Lindsey, Jeff (Elena) Gilliam, Lauren (Skyler)Penton, Lindsey Gilliam, and Michael Lindsey; daughter-in-law Susan(Jeff) Nolan.
Unfortunately, services for Mr. Lindsey have been postponed until a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to West Point 1st United Methodist Church.
