Obituary for Victoria L. Lacy

Vicki (Vaughn) Lacy was born October 26, 1951 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma as the second of four daughters to Vestal and Dorothy Vaughn. Vicki passed away peacefully in Oklahoma City on July 10, 2019. In her final days, she was surrounded by her family as they shared many joyous memories listening to the songs of her favorite musicals. Vicki grew up in Lubbock, Texas where she met and married the love of her life of nearly 50 years, Michael (Mike) J. Lacy. Vicki met her husband walking the hallowed halls of Monterey High School in Lubbock, Texas. A 1970 graduate of Monterrey, she married her beloved on August 21, 1971. From this marriage sprang three children, Michael “Jay” Lacy, II; Matthew Seth Lacy (Preceded in death, 2011); and Megan Kristine Connelly. Few things could put a smile on her face quicker than shopping with her daughter, visiting with her sons, watching any number of musicals with her grandkids or hosting a raucous family game night. Vicki was a proud and loving “nana” to 4 grandkids, Brooke Lacy, Adam Connelly, Katherine (Kate) Lacy and Madison (Maddie) Connelly. Vicki is survived by her mother, Dorothy Vaughn of Lubbock, Tx, husband Mike of the home, children Megan Connelly of Moore, Jay and wife Jennifer of Oklahoma City, and her 4 grandkids. Vicki is also survived by her three cherished sisters, JoDee Waits of Lubbock, TX, Kim Douglass and husband Pat of Huntington Beach, CA and Amy Windisch and husband Bob of Westmont, IL; sister-in-law Phyllis Caldwell and husband Robert of North Carolina along with numerous nieces and nephews. Vicki’s list of friends is too numerous to count. Vicki spent the last 17 years working for Emergency Medical Services Authority (EMSA). EMSA Honor Guard will be present at the services honoring her as a valuable member of the EMSA family. Vicki knew her Lord and Savior as an active member of First United Methodist Church of Moore, Oklahoma. Vicki will be remembered for her contagious smile, her “squeaky” laugh, the love of her Texas Tech Red Raiders and for the decades of summers spent at Possum Kingdom Lake outside of Graham, TX. Services will be held on Monday, July 15th at the First United Methodist Church of Moore, OK at 1:00pm. Arrangements are being handled by John M. Ireland & Son Funeral Home, Moore.

As a fellow cancer warrior, I admired Vicki's courage and resolve in the face of her challenges. She personally hired me to work at EMSA 6 years ago, and I will always be grateful for that trust. May she find peace and joy as she reunites with loved ones. My deepest condolences to my friend Megan, and to the entire family.
